Short description
Ribeira de Alportel Biodiversity Station is in the Natura 2000 Caldeirão Site and it partially matches the nature trail bordered by the Municipality called Vale de Alportel. It is a particularly well studied station, both by the butterfly monitoring work carried out between 2010 and 2013 and by the frequent visits of Nelson Fonseca (responsible for this station’s facebook page). The station’s path follows the stream, crossing a great diversity of habitats (a well preserved riparian gallery, meadows, Mediterranean bushes, etc), which gives it a lot of biodiversity. The municipality's website has some more information about the biodiversity that can be found in the Biodiversity station.
