Biospots do Passadiço do PaivaMunicipality Arouca
Extension 8 km Initial coordinate 40°57'9.89"N; 8°10'32.18"W (Praia do Areinho) How to get there? We recommend that you arrive to the walk by the Areinho entrance, where you can find a parking lot, thus going in the direction of Espiunca. Short description Along the Paiva’s walk there are 9 Biospots that highlight some of the more emblematic and common species found in the area, mostly of insects and plants. walks allow visitors to approach the riverbed and the surrounding vegetation, which is particularly useful to observe and photograph animals like butterflies and dragonflies. This section of the Paiva river is included in the Natura 2000 Network as Site of Community Importance (SCI). It also includes five of the geologic places signposted by the Geoparque de Arouca (and mentioned in the Biospot’s panels), which can be observed up close in the walk: Garganta do Paiva, Cascata das Aguieiras, Praia do Vau, Gola do Salto and the Espiunca tectonic aspects. In Praia do Vau you can find a suspension bridge over the river, which connects this route with the Arouca GR 28 trail. |
