Parque Natureza de NoudarMunicipality Barrancos
Extension 2 km Initial coordinate 38°10'26.83"N; 7° 3'22.96"W How to get there? From Barrancos, follow the signs to Parque Natureza de Noudar. When arriving to Herdade da Coitadinha go to the reception to get more information about the Moinho trail, where the EBIO is located. If you want to go directly to the Station go towards the Noudar Castle, where you will find, on the right, a sign marking the beginning of the path. Short description Parque de Natureza de Noudar Biodiversity Station belongs to the Moura / Mourão / Barrancos Natura 2000 site. The pathway coincides with a section of the Moinho trail, where the landscape is dominated by holm oak trees and rockroses. When getting down to Múrtega creek the vegetation becomes denser and dominated by wild olive trees and genista. In the creek we can observe dragonflies, damselflies and other aquatic insects. Unlike other Biodiversity Stations, in this case we chose to provide scientific information only about the insect diversity, since there is already information about the flora and other animals available to the Herdade da Coitadinha visitors. This EBIO is particularly well studied due to the monthly monitoring of butterflies and other insects, which occurred between 2009 and 2011, funded by EDIA. |
