IV. FIELDWORK: ECOLOGY
From here, visitors go into a room where they can see a documentary. The goal is to represent the second phase in reserach concerning the biological characteristics of the species in their habitat and how an environmental project comes about. The documentary (“The flower, the ant, and the thretaened butterfly”) filmed in natural park of Alvão in Northern Portugal focuses on the work of reseracher Ernestino Maravalhas with the Phengaris alcon species. Here we show how these butterflies are captured, marked, gow eggs are counted and how we can observe the cycle of their life (they spend winter inside ants' nests).
